ABOUT the Reg Brown Scholarship
The Reg Brown Scholarship was established in 2008 and is awarded to two deserving high school seniors who have remained active in their church music program from elementary through high school. The student’s church must be a member of Choristers Guild and the music staff must be active with the Houston Chapter Choristers Guild. The Chapter Board of Directors oversees the application process and makes the final decision as to which two seniors will receive a $500 scholarship. Reg Brown was a beloved church musician who strongly supported Choristers Guild through his ministry at various churches, most notably Clear Lake Presbyterian Church where he served for 18 years. When he passed away in June of 2008, the Houston Chapter voted to establish a scholarship in his memory. The Houston Chapter of Chorister Guild, the Houston Children’s Chorus, Clear Lake Presbyterian Church, Friendswood United Methodist Church, Clear Lake United Methodist Church and other church musicians from the Houston area worked together in the fall of 2013 to raise nearly $15,000 to establish the scholarship fund. Our hope is to continue raising funds to establish an endowment to benefit the Reg Brown Scholarship fund. All donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. |
